Histrionic
“I just love music and [being in a band] is just one of the ways I found to be able to express it, and be myself,” said Beem. Histrionic, which also includes Aramara Quintos, and Caleb Baugous started in the Academy of Rock and has been performing all around the Lincoln venues. The name is similar to narcissism, or feeling uncomfortable when you are not at the center of attention.
“First. Don’t ever give up. Ever,” Seth Beem said when talking about the struggles of starting his career in music. Beem has been interested in music since he was four or five years old, starting off with a drum set and later expanding his skills to guitar, bass, piano, and singing.

The band loves being at the center of attention, so why not they thought. To Histrionic, the punk scene in Lincoln was very welcoming and supportive of them when they started playing. “The community here is really cool, especially when you have a group of kids that come to most of the shows. There’s a lot of support for local art in general, not even just music, painting, and writing, and all of that. During the summer, we had [one to three shows] every weekend,” said Beem.
Bands don’t compete for attention in the Lincoln area, everyone is respectful and even fans of each other. But of course, starting out at such a young age, it was hard to get started in the punk, due to the group forming in eighth grade. Amara asked his friend Mikey, who is a very seasoned musician in Lincoln, how exactly to get his band to face crowds. Mikey introduced the group to his friend Megan who gave them the tips and tricks they still use to this day when playing in front of crowds.
2017 is when the band started getting recognized and their fan base began to grow. The band doesn’t have a favorite venue in particular. They praise every venue for always having consistent sound and lighting crew that help out with their shows. “Z-Bar was really cool because the crowd there's is older and so they got to like people that usually don't see us got to see us at 130 in the morning. Yeah, that was really, really cool,” Quintos said. To Histrionic, punk music is a state of mind. By playing the way the band wants and seeing the crowd the way they want makes everything so much easier and enjoyable. Without regard to what others may or may not be thinking. It is Histrionic playing the way Histrionic wants to play, and that’s all that matters in the end.
