Duffys Tavern
1412 EAST O STREET LINCOLN NE
A Lincoln legend since its opening in 1936, Duffy's Tavern is known for being the perfect mix between a music venue and college bar. They are known for their famous "fishbowls" and for hosting bands from all genres. If you like country, bluegrass, hip hop, punk or death metal, Duffy's is the place for you.

BANDS.

THEN AND NOW.
Since the opening of Duffy's as a music venue, which was close to 30 years ago, many big name bands have performed there. The list is long, but a few are Nirvana, 311, The Flaming Lips, Connor Oberst, Domo Genesis, and Stiff Little Fingers.

Today, Duffy's usually books national touring acts and a few local acts. They specifically try to book acts that haven't played locally within the past month.

Legendary punk rocker Ian McCallum and his hype man Teddy Wright always make a point to stop at Duffy's when crossing the country.
Duffy's Tavern was opened in 1936 by John Wilhelm just after the end of prohibition. By the 1950s, the "regulars" at the bar consisted of those stationed at a nearby air-force base, railroad workers and a ladies sewing circle. They realized the old and young people got along real well when college kids kept showing up. That inclusivity remains true today.

In the late 1980s, one of the former owners bought the pizza place next door to make a band room, and Duffy's has been at the forefront of the Lincoln music scene ever since.

HISTORY.

AND THE HIGHLIGHTS.
PUNK SCENE.

FROM DUFFY'S PERSPECTIVE.
Lincoln's punk scene continues to evolve. Younger people seem to be gravitating away from traditional rock and roll, but punk continues to have a strong following and an active group of creators in Lincoln.

Lincoln is committed to having a good music scene. Both producers and consumers of music work to ensure that Lincoln continues to have a thriving scene. This is done by volunteering at things like Lincoln Calling - but more-so they do it by actually showing up for the cool shows that are happening.
